This week we are retelling the story of ‘Little Red Riding Hood’. We will be acting out the story, making puppets to retell the story then writing the story in our own words.
We are revisiting the sounds in Phase 3 of Letters and Sounds as a whole class: ai, ee, ie, oa, oo, ar, and or.
We will also have small group targets focusing on gaps in the sounds we are unsure of. Next week we will send a list home of which phonics group your child is in and list the sounds they will also be focusing on in class.
We have set targets this week and children are practising to write their numbers correctly and write numbers up to 20, 40 or over a hundred depending on each child’s target. Please ask your child what their target is and help them practise if you can. We are also look at the value of one and two digit numbers and how many tens and units they have. Then we will have number bond challenges to practise how many different ways we can add ten objects.
|Topic: Our topic theme this term is ‘Where Do I Come From? and the children have come up with some brilliant ideas. We have started looking at self portraits, using primary and secondary colours and will continue with look at ourselves, family and friends. Hopefully we will also get chance to have a walk to see what is around us and how everything is changing now we are coming into the autumn season.
