Walk to School Week: 20 – 24 May 2019

Let’s get walking!

Next week sees the start of the national Walk to School campaign which encourages parents and children to leave the car at home and take the chance to get outside and get fit by walking to and from school.  Over two million schoolchildren, teachers and parents (including ourselves) will be taking up the challenge!

Walking to school offers many different health benefits.

By walking to school, not only will you:

  • get fitter;
  • feel better;
  • be more alert;
  • help to save our environment;

…but you will also help to make our school area safer place for all of us.

Our Junior Road Safety Officers have challenged each team to either walk, scoot or cycle to school rather than using the car.  If distance means you have to travel by car, then why not park at the village hall and ‘park and stride’?

The team with the lowest percentage of car journeys to school next week will win extra break time.  So come on and join the challenge and make our school a healthier, fitter and safer place to be!
