Restorative Circle Time – Miss Stables takes the class for a restorative circle session on a Tuesday afternoon. The circle is a time for children to discuss the theme of the week, celebrate successes and find solutions to any problems.
Spanish, Music, Computing and R.E – Children take part in activities on a Thursday afternoon for these subjects. We are incredibly lucky to have specialist teachers for Spanish and Music!
Enrichment is on a Thursday afternoon 3:15-4:15pm for all children in Humber Class which will allow them to participate in extra-curricular activities with specialist teachers.
Reading is an incredibly important part of your child’s homework and our Year 6 team have pledged to read five times a week outside of school hours. This doesn’t always need to be read aloud to an adult. However, sharing reading is a pleasurable experience which we encourage. For instance, reading some sections of the book to your child will help their aural comprehension. Nevertheless, they are likely to be reading most of the book to themselves. Please do to talk to your child about what they are reading, this will help them to make crucial connections with things they have read, things they may have heard in the news or their life experiences. Please remember to sign and date planners.
Homework projects will be set every few weeks linked to our topic and are a great way to engage as a family with what your child is learning in school. This will also include weekly spellings to practise.
TTRockstars is a fantastic way of helping your child to practise their times tables fluency. Year 6 have agreed to aim for 4 times a week.
Humber classroom will be open each day from 8:30am to allow children time to engage in any extra learning.
Bloomz is a fantastic way of communicating with parents so please ask one of the KS2 team to sign up. You will be able to view your child’s learning and it will also give you regular updates, copies of letters and homework.
