On Sunday 3rd July the school represented the Selby district in Rugby and Netball at the North Yorkshire Games at Escrick. The teams were motivated and could not wait to impress. 410 schools started this journey and now we were representing the final 10 teams in North Yorkshire!
The netball team played with grit and determination in all matches but lost the first two matches. However in the 3rd match they turned this around with some great shooting and movement off the ball, winning 3-1. Unfortunately the team could not continue this, narrowly losing their final game. Brotherton finished in 8th position, which is fantastic achievement for our school.
In the rugby, Brotherton started strongly with a win and continued with this form as they won 3 matches and drew one. All players defended as a team with great passion and in attack they were lethal! Brotherton qualified in 1st from the group and qualified for the final! In the final unfortunately we went 2-0 down and struggled to recover quickly with the final score ending 6-4, finishing runners up. Once again this is a massive achievement for our school!
Thank you to all parents for your support over the weekend and to Mrs Purdy and Mr Jeff for coaching the children.
This brings an end to another successful year of sport for Brotherton – the best yet!
Thank you for all of your support!
