Yesterday we celebrated our first ever ‘Book Fest’ in school. The day was jammed packed with activities, including active story telling, drama, science and so much more. The aim of the day was to encourage children to do more reading and to help them to enjoy reading more! The children definitely loved coming into school in their pyjamas but I think the adults enjoyed it more!

Thank you to the parents who came to the celebration assembly at the end of the day. It was wonderful to see all the fantastic learning the children had done throughout the day and for them to share their favourite part of the day.

We introduced the whole school reading challenge to the children. If we can read as many books as the cooling towers are high (5790 books approximately) then we will have a massive celebration in school that we will invite parents, grandparents, friends and siblings to.

All the adults in school signed up to read different books to the children. The children enjoyed choosing a book to go and listen to. There were some old favourites and some new books the children had never heard before.

Miss Dimmock and Mrs Jeff ran two reading meetings for parents to attend. We thank the parents who came to the meetings. If you are still interested in a phonics meeting then please let us know and we will try to run one as soon as possible.

The whole day was a massive success and we hope to run another ‘Book Fest’ in the near future.
