Well done to everyone who represented our school in the Selby Sportshall Athletics competition last week.
The mighty Brotherton Sports Hall Athletics team defeated all comers in the first round of this year’s competition. For the third year running our key stage 2 warriors have taken first place in the local stage of the Yorkshire Sportshall Athletics competition. Our team of 23 from years 5 & 6 made the trip to Selby high school to face a 10 way competition against other local schools including fellow Ebor faces from Staynor Hall and long standing rivals from Hambleton – the last team to beat us 4 years ago. Our athletes rose to every challenge, finishing if not first then at least in the top 3 for every discipline, and after a long fought battle emerged victorious, winners by a clear 50 point margin. As always Brotherton were gracious in their victory, cheering on the competition and showing the true sportsmanship they are renowned for. The next round will be held in February and if successful there we could progress to the North Yorkshire final later in the year. This is a competition we have a great track record in having finished 6th out of 500 schools last year and 2nd the year before so we are sure you will all join in celebrating this victory, wishing them the very best of luck and supporting them as they prepare for the next gruelling round.
