World Book Day is, again, quickly approaching. This year, World Book Day will be held on Thursday 5th of March and we have decided to use the opportunity to get our teeth stuck into some poetry across school. Each phase has been allocated a selection of poems which the children will study throughout the day. If your child would like to dress up, we ask that they come as something related to their allocated poems – ideas are given in brackets).

Esk and Nidd – Nursery Rhymes (humpty dumpty, twinkle star, black sheep, Jack and Jill)

Aire and Ouse (pirate, dinosaur, monster, fairy)

I wish I was a Pirate – Tony Bradman

The Dinosaur’s Dinner – June Crebbin

Monster – Richard Edwards

The Song of the Naughty Fairies – Clare Bevan

Derwent and Foss (alien, wizard, cat)

Aliens stole my Underpants – Brian Moses

Ten Things Found in a Wizard’s Pocket – Ian McMillan

The Language of Cat – Rachel Rooney

Calder and Humber (sea/sea creature, tiger, cowboy, snowman)

The Sea – James Reeves

The Magic Box – Kit Wright

The Tyger – William Blake
