A Message from the Headteacher…

Hi everyone,

Fridays seem to be here before we know it.  This week every class has focused on our black history week and all have learned so much.  Next week we are having our ‘Big Draw’ focusing on line drawing and showing off what the children have learned in art so far this year so a great end to our half term.

Next week we are also changing drop off times to 8.30-8.50.  As you can imagine, handwashing and putting things away before children start learning is taking quite a while so shortening the drop off time will mean children will have washed hands and are ready to learn by 9am.  This will take us back to our normal start of school time (8.50am) but will give you more flexibility with extended drop off from 8.30am to ease the flow of people around the one way system.

It has been quite a week with government information about the new tier system, possible lockdowns and restrictions.  As soon as we know any new information, I will let you know.

Some families in school have had to self isolate and we are working with families who have to, to ensure children do not miss out on any learning.  I have shared an updated information sheet from Ebor Trust about self isolation as parents have been asking Someone I live with has symptoms..  Please also look at our remote learning plans on the website.  Please would you inform school immediately if you or any of your family test positive.

This half term, in addition to whole class teaching, we have been assessing children’s learning and plugging any gaps they may have as a result of lockdown.  After half term, we will be having virtual parent teacher meetings and will be discussing with you: your child’s learning, what teaching and learning has happened so far and what we will be doing to ensure your children make good progress.  These will be held during week commencing 30th November.

Class sharing assemblies have started this week with Aire sharing their celebration of learning via ParentHub.  They were very excited to show off their learning!

Have a lovely weekend and see you all next week,

Mrs Fletcher
