Gearing up for Sports Day!
We’ve been busy this week making preparations for our annual Sports Day to take place next Wednesday 19th June 2024. This week the children had a go at the different activities and events with Mr Jeff and they had lots of fun! The younger children were also supported by Team Humber who did a wonderful job of helping run the carousel of activities on the playground. We know the children are really looking forward to the event next week and we would like to thank you for all your ongoing support and also Mr Jeff who is organising the event.
As you know, this year we are running the event in two sections according to the age of the children. Parents/carers and family members are very welcome to attend and support the event. Please feel free to bring a blanket or portable chair. Please contact the school office if you would like any support with accessibility to this event and we would be more than happy to help. You are welcome to take plenty of photos during the event, but please can I remind you not to share these on social media.
Morning Session: Children in Teams Esk, Nidd, Aire and Ouse will be taking part during the morning. If you would like to observe, please drop your child off at school as usual and make your way to the grass areas on the edge of the playground. The event will begin by 09:30 with a carousel of Sports activities on the playground. We will then take the children up to the field for their track races, where you are welcome to also come and observe. We aim to finish the morning session by 11:30; please leave the site by the outside of the school through the front pedestrian gate.
Afternoon Session: Children in Teams Derwent, Foss, Calder and Humber will be taking part during the afternoon. If you would like to observe, please arrive through the front gate at 12:30 and make your way (via the side of the school building) to the grass areas on the edge of the playground. The event will begin by 13:00 with a carousel of Sports activities on the playground. We will then take the children up to the field for their track races, where you are welcome to also come and observe. We aim to finish the afternoon session by 15:00; please wait by your child’s usual door to collect them at the end of the school day at 15:15.
In other news, we are very proud of the Year 3 and 4 girls who represented our school this week during the inter-school Football event! They did a great job playing football and we were blown away by their excellent teamwork and attitude. Well done everyone!
Thank you for your continued support, Mr Greene
