What a busy week we have had in school! Thank you to the many parents and carers who came along to support our African dancing showcase assembly on Monday with the visiting Zamble Dance Company. During the day, each class had a dance workshop with the team from Zamble and they absolutely loved it. We invited Gaspard in to launch our Black History Week, which has led to the children carrying out amazing research. Thank you to Miss Oglesby, our History lead, for organising this!
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, the children had their Harvest Assembly where they were able to share something they had learnt about Harvest during their RE learning this half-term. We had a range of different presentations showcasing children’s harvesting, cooking, artwork, poetry, singing and newly learned facts. Thank you to Miss Gill, our RE lead, for organising such an interesting assembly. The children in Nursery, Reception and Year 1 have also taken part in our annual balance bike training with Phil, who visits us every year to deliver this excellent session. The children loved learning how to use a balance bike and taking part in the obstacle courses and the races!
Due to an increase in unsafe parking and road use at the front of the school site, please can I remind all parents and carers to drive responsibly around the school. Please see an important reminder below on page 3. We have also held parent consultation sessions this week after school. Thank you for your support with these sessions and we hope you found them informative. Please do ensure that you attend your consultation slot or let school staff know if you are unable to attend, as we had several missed appointments which impacts on staff time and workload.
Coming up after the half-term break..
Is your child in Team Esk? Don’t forget to apply for your child’s Reception class place through North Yorkshire admissions online by January 2025. We are delighted to be hosting a Reception open evening here at school on the 6th November 5-6pm. Come along and see what our Reception provision is like! This event is open to the public – please see further information below and share with anyone you know who is looking for a Reception place for their child next year.
Also, there is a new lunch menu from GFM starting after the half-term break (see below!). Please use Parentpay to book and pay for your child’s school meals. Please can you ensure that any outstanding payments on your account are cleared as soon as possible. Many of our clubs will continue, including; Ninja Warriors, Gymnastics, Dance club Young Voices and Gabrieli Roar. We are also pleased to inform you that there are two new clubs: Tag Rugby for KS2 and Drama Club for KS1. Safeguarding Thought of the Week
Many of our families will be celebrating Halloween during half term. Please see the following poster issued by the Police advising ways in which you can help keep your children safe this Halloween.
Stay safe and Have Fun!
This is an important reminder to road users to park safely and drive carefully around the front of the school site. The zig-zag lines outside our school are a clear sign that they should not be parked on. Cars should also not be parked on double-yellow lines or anywhere near the crossing point on the road leading to the school. Unfortunately, these are often ignored and cause great concern to the school because of the risk to children and families. We also have a few members of the community with severe sight impairments who are at risk.
There have been a number of issues and complaints recently regarding unsafe driving and parking locally. The school is in contact with North Yorkshire Police about these concerns and is committed to working together in partnership to ensure that our pupils are safe walking to school. Thank you for your continued support in parking safely and using the road carefully around our children and families before and after school.
