Year 1 enjoy Forest School at the Ledston Estate!
This week, Team Aire had a fantastic time on their trip to the Ledston Estate on Wednesday where they enjoyed their time taking part in a Countryside Learning Workshop. The Team had fun looking for minibeasts and going on a scavenger hunt. They also made their own pebble people and then used natural resources in the woods to make them a shelter for them to live in. Their imagination, creativity, resourcefulness and teamwork was amazing! We are so proud of how well they represented the school and grateful to Barbara at Ledston and Miss Catterall for organising the trip so the children could have this experience.
It’s been really good to come back together after the half-term break this week. Thank you for all of your continued support. We have seen a couple of teams celebrate 100% attendance this week with non-uniform days; well done Team Nidd and Team Calder! The children have been working really hard across school and we are very proud of all the learning that is taking place. This week we also launched our new performing arts club for KS1 pupils, which they really enjoyed! Please do share your feedback with us regarding after-school clubs, as we continue to broaden and develop our offer to enrich the learning opportunities for our children.
It was also great to host our Reception Open Evening this week and to show families around our school. If your child is currently in Team Esk, don’t forget to apply for their Reception place by January through the North Yorkshire admissions portal. If you would like to find out more about what Reception is like at our school, do not hesitate to contact the school office to make an appointment with the EYFS team.
Next week is ‘Anti-Bullying Week’ in schools in partnership with the Anti Bullying Alliance. As you know, we do not tolerate bullying in our school and we look forward to the opportunity next week to focus on this year’s theme: ‘Choose Respect’. The children will be taking part in an assembly and PSHE lessons on this theme. We are also inviting them to take part in our ‘odd socks day’ next Tuesday 12th November. Please can children come into school next Tuesday with odd socks on!
Finally, there are quite a few events for your calendar coming up. Please see the key events coming up below. Please see the attachment in the Parenthub message with this newsletter for reminders on our Christmas Events and how you can get involved. You will receive another message when bookings for events are open.
Thank you for all your support, Mr Greene

Safeguarding thought of the week.
11th November marks the beginning of Anti-Bullying Week, and this year’s theme is “Choose Respect”. Statistics from this week’s experts – the Anti-Bullying Alliance – reveal that 40% of children in the UK have suffered some form of bullying within the last year, with the most common experience being name-calling and verbal abuse. While it can have several causes, this kind of behaviour is commonly seen when a disagreement between two youngsters gets out of hand and emotions take over
Many children are still learning how to conduct themselves, and it can be difficult for them to know how to act when faced with someone who disagrees with them, or otherwise find themselves in conflict with another person It can also be tricky for parents and educators to teach them how to resolve disputes in a mature and healthy manner. By teaming up with the ABA for Anti-Bullying Week, we’re bringing you expert advice on encouraging children to choose respect.
