Happy New Year!
A warm welcome back to school; I hope you had a wonderful break with your family and friends over the holidays. We are so proud of how well the children have come back this week and all the hard work they have already done! Today we celebrated our first new behaviour rewards in our Friday Celebration Assembly and we saw lots of children who have made good and wow choices all week! Hopefully you have seen my letter from the beginning of the week, which explains our new rewards and recognition for the good behaviour we see every day in school. Please come and speak to your class teacher or myself if you have any questions about the new initiatives.
This week we also took 50 pupils to the Young Voices concert in Sheffield; the largest group that we have ever taken! The children represented the school so well and we had loads of fun singing and dancing together. Well done to everyone who took part and a big thank you to all staff for their help. A special mention goes to our Young Voices Choir Teacher – Mrs Caffrey – who organised the event! It couldn’t have been such a success without her leadership so THANK YOU MRS CAFFREY!
In other news, a polite reminder that if you have a child born between 1 September 2020 and 31 August 2021, it’s time to apply for their primary school place. A reminder that the deadline for the applications for Reception places for September 2025 is 15 January 2025.

The 16th April 2025 is ‘National Offer Day’; primary school places are allocated on this day.
Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to say goodbye and goodluck Mr Metcalfe! As you will know, Mr Metcalfe took on a new role last year working in several schools across our EBOR academy trust. This meant we only had him at Brotherton on a Monday. His role is growing and he is moving on now to work across three schools.
Have a great weekend, Mr Greene
