Newsletter 5th September 2025

Friday 5th September 2025

Welcome back to school as we begin a new academic year together! On behalf of the whole staff team, I hope you have enjoyed your summer break. We have been absolutely delighted to welcome all of our children back to school; we have missed them all very much! If you are new to our school community then please allow me to take this opportunity to give you a very warm welcome to Brotherton and Byram Academy. Our hope is that your children will thrive in their educational journey with us as we give them every chance to succeed, experience and enjoy a stimulating and rich curriculum. We are committed to working closely together in partnership with all of our parents and carers; we look forward to getting to know you better over the coming year.

It has been a great joy to see all of the children again and watch them settle in so quickly to their new classes with their new teachers. As I’ve been moving around school, there is a wonderful atmosphere of children working hard and throwing themselves into their new learning. Our experienced and dedicated teaching team have planned a really exciting year of learning with lots of opportunities and experiences to help your children continue to grow and excel. We are so proud of the children and look forward to seeing them develop this year!

There will be lots of opportunities for you to get involved again this year and to come and share your children’s learning journey. We look forward to sharing further information with you soon, along with key dates and details of upcoming events, trips and opportunities. In the meantime, please can I remind you that if you have any questions or concerns at any point, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher; they will be happy to help.

Finally, as you will know from last term, our Assistant Headteacher Mrs Christie is due to have a new knee replacement and this was delayed in the summer. She has recently been informed that she is having surgery this weekend and so she will be taking a leave of absence this term as she recovers. We wish her the very best with her recovery and will see her again soon. In the meantime, Mrs Everett will teach Team Calder on a Thursday and Friday alongside a new experienced teacher called Mrs Soane at the beginning of the week. Furthermore, may I take this opportunity to thank Miss Gill and Miss Catterall who, during her absence, have agreed to join the school’s senior leadership team to support me in the efficient running of the school.

Your children have all worked incredibly hard this weekend and I’m sure that they will enjoy a well-deserved rest this weekend.

Thank you and see you next week, Mr Greene
