This week Team Foss had their residential trip to Willersley Castle in the Peak District. They had an incredible time and enjoyed the new venue, situated in 64 acres of land next to the River Derwent. They took part in a wide range of activities, including orienteering, fencing and climbing. A particular favourite of theirs was taking part in the grass sledding, which was loads of fun! We run residentials to help children develop their confidence, independence and resilience. These experiences are a great opportunity for children to have fun and learn lots along the way. They take lots of time and commitment from staff to organise and run, so a massive thank you goes to Mrs Everrett, Ms Gibb and Mrs Caffrey for all their help! I would also like to say a big thank you and well done to the children for representing the school so well and to the parents for working with us to make this happen – thank you!
We’ve had a couple of other trips running this week as well. On Wednesday, Team Ouse had a fantastic day at Ledston Forest School. They learnt all about different animals and their habitats, just how important minibeasts and poo are, and how forgetful squirrels are. They also went on a scavenger hunt and built some fantastic dens! Then, on Thursday, the children in Teams Esk and Nidd also visited the Ledston Estate. They also had a fantastic time exploring the Forest and learning lots of new skills. All the pupils were very well behaved and represented the school with pride. Thank you and well done!
In other news, thank you for your support last night with the School Disco. The children absolutely loved the event and had a brilliant time! The money raised has gone into our fundraising pot to be spent this year on experiences and opportunities for the children. We were also delighted to learn African dancing today with Zamble Dance Company. Each class had a turn at learning African Dancing in the school hall and had lots of fun sharing with parents at the end of the day. Thank you Miss Oglesby for organising this event to close our successful Black History week.
Finally, can I please remind all parents, carers and visitors about working together to ensure that our school site remains safe and welcoming for all users. Please remember that we do not allow the use of mobile phones, scooters and bikes on the school grounds. We also ask that everyone uses respectful language at all times. Thank you for your continued support.
It certainly has been a busy term so have a wonderful half-term break; the children have worked incredibly hard over the last 8 weeks and they certainly deserve it! We look forward to seeing you all next term after a good rest.
Thank you for your continued support, Mr Greene
