17th October 2025
Good afternoon everyone and we hope you have had a great week; we certainly have been busy at school this week! We have been especially busy electing and training our new pupil champions! Growing and developing our pupil’s leadership skills has been an important part of our school development journey and we have been delighted by the children’s recent responses, as they have shown loads of enthusiasm and interest!
As you know, a few weeks ago we announced our new Sports Champions. This week on Wednesday, they received a day’s worth of training from a specialist coach at Beyond the Physical. During the day the children learnt new skills and games. They worked together to practice and use them before they designed their own sports games. Later on in the afternoon, Mrs Jeff (Our PE Lead) brought her class (Team Ouse) out onto the playground for the new playleaders to practice with them. They were absolutely fantastic and they have already had a huge impact on providing fun and active games on the playground for all of our children! Thank you Sports Leaders!
Also this week, we announced and held our whole-school Class Champions elections. The role of a Class Champion is primarily to represent their teammate’s views and ideas to the class champion council or directly to the class teacher, and to help improve the school environment, enrichment and classroom learning. As a Class Champion, they will work closely with their teacher and their friends to gather pupil voice around a range of upcoming events, ideas and curriculum planning sessions. They will meet with me once a fortnight to discuss these things and feed into our school development planning; I can’t wait for them to get started after half-term! I’m sure you will join me in passing on huge congratulations and thanks to all of them.
Thank you for your support this week with parent consultations online; we hope you found the time with your child’s class teacher helpful. Coming up, please note that we have an Autumn Disco next week after school on Thursday, which can be booked on Parent Pay. We also hope you can join us if you are available next Friday for our Zamble African Dance assembly at 2.30pm to see the children perform!
Thank you for your continued support and have a great weekend, Mr Greene
