Newsletter 26th September 2025

Friday 26th September 2025

Today we celebrated ‘Language Day 2025’ across school and the children have been having lots of fun learning  and exploring different languages. Our focus this year was ‘Geography’ and the children have been learning about different countries and their associated flags, as well as the languages that they speak. They have been using languages and playing new games; it has been a joy to see the hard work across school and the interest that the children have shown. We have encouraged the children to try and learn a few new words in a different language. We have also celebrated the growing variety of languages that our children already know and use across the school community which continues to enrich us all. Why not ask your child if they can tell you how they say hello in a different language?

Year 5 took part in the BBC 500 Words Live Lesson on Wednesday and they are all fired up with high energy for creating their own fictional story. This was the ‘kick start’ to a competition to write a creative narrative in 500 words or less. Children are not marked on spelling, grammar or punctuation, but solely on the content for their fictional story. The competition is open now for all primary aged school children and closes on Friday 7th November. Search ‘500 Words’ online for all the details – It is easy to submit your child’s work. Prizes for the 50 finalists include an invitation to a glittering grand final hosted by Her Majesty The Queen herself and a stack of books as tall as Lenny Henry! Good luck to those who wish to take part!

In other news, if you have a child that is due to start school next year, you are warmly invited to join us at our upcoming EYFS open evening on the 22nd October. This is a great opportunity to see the Reception provision and find out more about our ‘starting school’ offer. Further information can be found on the poster within this newsletter.

A BIG THANK YOU for your support this morning at our MacMillan coffee morning; we raised £104.65 plus the QR coded donations to support the work of this special charity. Thank you!

Finally, today has been the day that we say goodbye and good luck to Mrs Kellett! After nearly a decade of working at the school she has completed her last day with us today. We will miss you Mrs Kellett! Good luck in your new job closer to home and come back and see us any time!

Thank you for your continued support and have a great weekend, Mr Greene
