Newsletter 21st November 2025

Friday 21st November 2025

What a week it has been this week! We didn’t expect to see the snow this early in the season but the children certainly enjoyed playing out in it! We hope your travel hasn’t been too disrupted this week and we hope you are keeping safe and well as the temperature drops. In Team Esk and Nidd, the children loved playing outdoors in the snow and exploring the outdoor classroom. Indoors, they are learning about dentists; they have been learning about what dentists do and they have been enjoying exploring teeth through play.

Meanwhile, further up school, Year 3 has been investigating what conditions a plant needs to grow. The class planted one seed pot which they will give water, sunlight and nutrients to to help it grow. Then, they planted another seed pot where they will take either water or sunlight away. Year 3 will observe the differences in their plants’ growth over time. This will form part of their learning around plants and it will allow them to use their scientific enquiry skills. Keep up the good work Team Derwent!

Thank you as well for all your support today with our non-uniform day. Thank you for your contributions towards our upcoming Christmas fundraising events!

Finally, I am delighted to share some exciting updates regarding the school office. As you know, the office team works incredibly hard to ensure that the school runs smoothly, which often involves a lot of juggling! I am pleased to share that Mrs Gibb has recently taken on the new role of Senior Administrator, overseeing the daily operations of our school administration. Her commitment and dedication to the school and community is outstanding; we are grateful for her continued support. I am also pleased to share that we have recently recruited Mrs Hullah to work alongside her as our new office administrator. She will work on a Wednesday and Thursday morning, and then all day on a Friday to bring extra capacity to the office. Please come and say hello to her next time you are in! Welcome Mrs Hullah!

Thank you again for your continued support. Have a lovely weekend and see you next week, Mr Greene
