This week in school the children in Team Calder have been working on their sewing skills in DT. They all tried really hard and Miss Reeder was so impressed that they received a whole-class ‘wow’ for resilience! It looks like they had fun and made lots of progress – well done Year 5!
On Tuesday, we had the pleasure of taking pupils from Key Stage 2 to another inter-school Sports Competition at Selby College. This time we took part in Sports Hall Athletics, which involved pupils taking part in a range of track and field activities against 6 other local schools. They represented the school really well and they did really well! Well done team, we are very proud of you! Thanks to Mrs Caffrey and Mrs Jeff for organising the event.
On Thursday, we had the pleasure of welcoming in the North Yorkshire Music Service this week to deliver a Music Showcase Assembly! The children were treated to performances by professional musicians who showcased a range of instruments from the families of brass, woodwind, string and percussion. They are a talented group and the children loved hearing and naming the different instruments! As a follow up, if your child is interested in finding out more about what their service provides and they would like to explore a new instrument, please find out more information further down on the newsletter. Thank you to our Music Lead, Mrs Everett for organising this.
Hopefully you have seen our letter this week about our performance and sharing offer for this academic year. We are really looking forward to giving children some exciting performance opportunities this year and we can’t wait to share with you as parents and carers. To support, we have also included dates as far as we can at this point up until Easter for you to add to your calendars. Alongside our seasonal events, open doors and celebrations of learning, we hope you can join us!
Finally, this week we launched our new Instagram page for Brotherton and Byram CP Academy! We hope you have had a chance to see our new Instagram page; if you’ve not had a chance to follow us yet, then please follow us @bandb_school to see your children’s learning and get reminders about upcoming events and activities. Please note, that this is a private page and you will need to request to follow us before a member of staff authorises the request. This replaces our old page on ‘X’ and we hope you find it useful and interesting!
Thank you again for your continued support, Mr Greene
