Welcome back to school and Happy New Year! We hope you have had a lovely Christmas break and enjoyed a well earned rest. The children worked incredibly hard last term and we were very proud of them. Thank you again for your continued support and your partnership with the Christmas events. A very special warm welcome to our new families of our newest cohort of Nursery pupils; welcome to our school community and we hope your child enjoys their learning journey with us! We are looking forward to starting the new year and seeing how the children continue to grow and develop! As always, we really value your support and the way we work together in partnership.
This week it has been really good to see the children getting back into their learning routines. It has been a joy to go around the classrooms and to see all the hard work that has been going on. A particular highlight this week has been to have Mark from York Knights deliver Rugby and Team Building sessions to our pupils in Years 5 and 6 (Calder and Humber). The children worked really hard and enjoyed the session. These sessions will last for six weeks until half-term, where they will then be asked to prepare a piece of work in groups at the end.
In other news, it has been fantastic to welcome Miss Linder and Mrs Poskitt to the school team. Both based in Key Stage 1 (Team’s Aire and Ouse), they have made a great start and the children have really enjoyed working with them – welcome!
Also, as you are aware, Mrs Jeff has begun her new role this week as the school SENDCo. In the first instance, if you ever have any worries, questions or concerns, please speak to your child’s class teacher and we will do our best to help. Building on that, if you then have any questions or correspondence for Mrs Jeff about your child, please do not hesitate to arrange all communications through the school office. Also, if your child is in Team Ouse, please be aware that Mrs Jeff will have leadership time out of class to carry out her role on a Wednesday morning and we are delighted to share that Miss Oglesby (who has worked in Year 2 for ten years) will be teaching the class during this time!
Thank you for your continued support and have a great weekend, Mr Greene

Supporting children’s safety is a shared responsibility between families, schools and wider society. For parents and carers, this responsibility has become increasingly complex as children’s lives are now deeply intertwined with the digital world. Many parents face difficult decisions about how to balance protecting children from online harm with enabling access to spaces that are now central to learning, socialising and play.
This previous guide sort to help parents and carers navigate difficult conversations about sexual harassment online. This guide is different in scope, in recognition of the complex, rapidly evolving landscape in which children – and parents – are navigating. It focuses on the challenge of managing children’s everyday online habits.
This guide was written with the direct involvement of children in England. It is a reflection of their views. My office visited schools to speak to teenagers, and spoke to my Youth Ambassadors and Youth Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) Panel to get their expertise on what works and what doesn’t work between parents or carers and children in the 21st Century.
