Friday 13th February 2026
This week on Monday we took a group of 41 pupils from Key Stage 2 on our annual trip to Young Voices at Sheffield Arena! The children from Derwent, Foss, Calder and Humber were absolutely fantastic and represented the school in style! We had loads of fun and enjoyed a wonderful experience singing together, alongside over 5000 other school children, with a live band and dance group. We were delighted to be supported by our families – we hope you all enjoyed the show! Every year this event grows and we hope that some of our younger children will be able to join us next year. A massive thanks to Miss Dickinson and Miss Catterall for this help and of course, HUGE thanks goes to Mrs Caffrey for organising and leading the trip again – we couldn’t do it without you!
In other news, this week was also a special week as we focused on Children’s Mental Health. Launched by a special
assembly with Mrs Jeff, the children then learnt how to look after their mental health in their PSHE lessons this week. Also, Young Voices wasn’t the only trip we had this week – over in Team Esk and Nidd, our EYFS pupils had a fantastic trip to visit Pontefract Castle! A huge thank you to our staff team, alongside our parent volunteers, as we couldn’t run these trips without you all! Thank you!
