Friday 20th March 2026
We have had another busy week of learning at school this week with the children continuing to work really hard. It’s also been great to get outdoors more and enjoy the lovely spring weather. A particular highlight this week has been the Year 3 and 4 Spring Production, which the children have shared with the school and then with their families on Wednesday. The children all did an amazing job and we were absolutely blown away by their singing, dancing and acting! Wow! Well done Team Derwent and Team Foss! It is wonderful to see all the progress you have made in English and Music; you shared a very important message with us in a very creative way! I know our parents were very impressed and you should be very proud. A big thank you to our teachers Miss Leng and Miss Oglesby and especially to Mrs Everett who organised the show!
This week, we also took children from upper KS2 to another Sports Competition at Selby College. Pupils took part in a netball competition with children from other schools in the Selby area. We are incredibly proud of the children who represented our school with energy and enthusiasm! We are also delighted to announce that our team were joint winners of the event – massive congratulations and well done! Thank you to Mrs Caffrey and Mrs Hand for taking the children.
Don’t forget that there are a few events next week for your information. Firstly, we are holding an Easter Disco during the next week on Monday 23rd March 2026. The cost of the disco is £3 and children will be provided with crisps, drink, cake and some sweets (vegetarian, gluten free and dairy free options will be available). We will not be selling anything during the disco so children will not need to bring any money. Timings as follows:
Nursery/EYFS/KS1 3.15pm – 4pm KS2 (Y3-Y6) 4.15pm – 5pm
Payment for the event can be made on Arbor Payments and party clothes or fancy dress is welcome for the event. We hope your child can join us and thank you for your support! Secondly, we are hoping parents and carers of pupils in Teams Calder and Humber will be able to join us next Wednesday 25th March for the Year 5 and Year 6 Musical Showcase at 2.45pm where our pupils are looking forward to sharing what they have learnt in Music so far this year.
Have a great weekend and we look forward to seeing you next week for the final week of the Spring Term!
Thank you for your continued support, Mr Greene

Are there any enthusiastic cyclists?
This year cyclists can pay to enter and then fundraise for Brotherton & Byram School or a charity of their choice. The event is marshalled and family friendly as the short and long distance riders set off 15 minutes apart.
The camp is open to children aged 4–12 and includes fun, age-appropriate dance sessions, Easter-themed arts and crafts, outdoor activities, and structured games in a safe and supportive environment. We also offer early drop-off and late pick-up options to support working families.
Dance Elite are also proud to be part of the FEAST programme with North Yorkshire Council, supporting children who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals. This allows funded places for qualifying families, helping ensure children can access enriching holiday activities.
