Newsletter 27th March 2026

Friday 27th March 2026

This half-term it has been wonderful to share what the children have been learning with you with a mix of sharing assemblies and performances. This week it was the turn of pupils in years 5 and 6 to show off what they have been learning in Music as they took to the stage on Wednesday for their marvellous musical showcase! Team Calder and Team Humber did a fantastic job and we are very proud of them. During their showcase we were treated to performances on the recorder, the ukulele and children also demonstrated their rhythm with drum sticks on the stage. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did! Thank you to Miss Smyth, Miss Reeder, Mrs Caffrey and Mrs Everett for organising and thank you to our families for your support!

In other news, I wanted to remind you that after Easter we will have moved fully to our new Arbor, our new communication system. This means that all payments for school (e.g. lunches, breakfast club, trips and other items) will be processed through Arbor as Parentpay will be discontinued. Please can we ask that all bookings be made 24hrs in advance to support the administration team.

I wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for all of your support this term! It has been a very busy term and it has been fantastic to see all the progress that the children have made across school. I am pleased to share that we have raised £533 from recent Easter fundraising events, including the disco, raffles and Easter Egg competition. Thank you for your amazing support and generosity as always! As you know, we put these funds directly back into experiences and provision to enhance our pupil’s education. I am also pleased to share that we were able to send £62.50 to Comic Relief following our non-uniform day last week.

Finally, I am delighted to let you know that Mrs Christie will be returning to school after the holidays following her successful recovery from knee surgery. We are very grateful to Miss Reeder for her help covering and we are pleased that she will stay on for a few weeks whilst Mrs Christie is on a part-time phased return.

I hope you have a very Happy Easter! Enjoy the Spring break with your children and family and we look forward to seeing you all again in two weeks time as we embark on the summer term together.

Thank you for your continued support, Mr Greene

Safeguarding thought of the week

Are there any enthusiastic cyclists?

This year cyclists can pay to enter and then fundraise for Brotherton & Byram School or a charity of their choice. The event is marshalled and family friendly as the short and long distance riders set off 15 minutes apart.

The camp is open to children aged 4–12 and includes fun, age-appropriate dance sessions, Easter-themed arts and crafts, outdoor activities, and structured games in a safe and supportive environment. We also offer early drop-off and late pick-up options to support working families.
Dance Elite are also proud to be part of the FEAST programme with North Yorkshire Council, supporting children who are eligible for benefits-related free school meals. This allows funded places for qualifying families, helping ensure children can access enriching holiday activities.
