Can you read 20 books in 2020?

Now 2020 is well underway, we are launching our new reading initiative for the year. It is great to see so many children enjoying their reading both in and out of school and we’d now like to challenge our children to read a greater variety of texts and perhaps step out of their comfort zones a little more.

Children from Reception to Year 6 will now have a sheet stuck in their planner with 20 different types of text they should aim to read this year. For our youngest children, this can (and should) include a combination of independent reading and shared reading with an adult. Once you have read a book, simply write the title in the relevant box and get it checked off in school.

If you need any text recommendations, please ask your child’s teacher. We have many suitable books available in school or if you’d rather find your own, there are some great local libraries in the area with extensive children’s sections.

Any questions, please ask and happy reading!
