New members of Esk and Nidd!

There has been much excitement this week in Teams Esk and Nidd with the safe arrival of all 9 of our new chicks who hatched on Tuesday evening! The eggs and the incubators arrived at the beginning of the week and the children were very excited. By the time they arrived on Wednesday morning, 7 of the chicks had hatched with the other 2 following along just behind. The children were delighted to meet the new members of their team and they have been absolutely fascinated by watching their early development using their scientific enquiry skills. The children have also made some wonderful drawings and paintings of chicks. We have also had some brilliant writing inspired by our visitors. Thank you Miss Gill and the EYFS team for organising such an engaging topic!

In other news, our after-school PE club is becoming very popular with lots of children coming along to enjoy using the apparatus in the hall to take part in our Beyond the Physical Gymnastics sessions. Children have been showing great control, coordination, strength and balance using the different apparatus around the hall with our PE teacher, Miss Dye. Well done team!

Finally, I want to say a MASSIVE WELL DONE and CONGRATULATIONS to everyone in Team Humber this week for their incredible effort and attitude during their SATs exams! All the pupils made us very proud by showing such incredible determination, hard-work and energy in every test. Thank you to all our families for your continued support. Well done and enjoy a rest this weekend!

Thank you for your continued support and see you next week, Mr Greene

Safeguarding thought of the week

There has been a trend which involves children microwaving soft “squishy” toys (such as NeeDoh or jelly cube products) after viewing online content suggesting this will make them softer. When handled after heating, these items can burst and release extremely hot contents, which has reportedly resulted in serious burns to hands and faces.

There have been reported incidents in both the UK and internationally, including a recent case in Bristol.

Are there any enthusiastic cyclists?

This year cyclists can pay to enter and then fundraise for Brotherton & Byram School or a charity of their choice. The event is marshalled and family friendly as the short and long distance riders set off 15 minutes apart.

School lunches and breakfast club must be booked and paid for on Arbor.  Bookings should be made and paid for at least 24 hours in advance of the day required.
