Dear Parents/Carers,

Well, we have made it to the Easter holidays!  What a term… back from Christmas holidays for a day then home learning and, after many weeks, all back in school.  What a team effort it has been.  Fingers crossed we really are on a positive journey back to as near a normal we had what seems a long time ago.  This lockdown has definitely felt the toughest but hopefully with lockdown easing and the weather improving we will all manage to bounce back.

As we come to the end of term we must also say ‘goodbye and good luck’ to Mrs Pfluger, who is retiring.  She has been at our school for many years, giving our children such a great start to their schooling.  I am sure you will agree, she will be very much missed.  But it is an exciting time for her and she has promised she will come back now and again to see us all.

Next term, Miss Dickinson will lead nursery with Mr Greene and we also welcome Miss Eley to our Early Years team.  Mrs Pfluger has been working very closely with Miss Dickinson over the past few weeks to ensure smooth transition.

Thank you for all the eggs you brought in this week for our Easter egg competition.  Judging will take place on Friday and the children are very excited to find out who the winners will be!  We will post pictures on the website of the winning decorated eggs.

We have also started planting our orchard this week and will be starting our allotment after Easter.  This is part of a bigger project with our link school in Sierra Leone (more information to follow after Easter).

You will also see our ‘Tree of Hope’ finally planted at the front of school.  Before Christmas everyone tied a ribbon on the tree and made a wish of hope so it is great to see it finally planted.

This week we found out that two successful poems written by our children and one from Mr Metcalfe were awarded runner-up prizes in our Trust poetry competition which is fantastic news.  Please look at our website to read the successful entries.  Thank you to everyone who took part.  We definitely have some great budding poets across school.

Thank you for absolutely everything you have done this term to make sure our children have not missed out on their learning.

Have a great Easter.  I hope the sun shines.

Mrs Fletcher
