The Yorkshire Dance Festival 2021
The Yorkshire Dance Festival 2021
Dear Parents/Carers
We have pre-registered our children from years 3,4 and 5 to attend the Yorkshire Dance Festival in November. Staged across two weekends and presented annually at the University of York, around 1200 young dancers from 58 schools/groups perform to an audience of over 2500. The dancers range from just 4 to 19 years of age.
The event is non-competitive. All ages, experience and dance styles are on show. Each school/group choreograph and perform a 5 minute dance piece in response to an annual theme.
For us to be able to attend this event we will need your help and support. We intend to start running some after school clubs soon, run by Mrs Caffrey, so children can start learning and practising a routine. However, with the event being on a weekend we will need your help transporting children to and from the festival. If the school has enough interest and commitment from both children and parents then we will be able to attend this event.
The 2021 festival will take place across the weekends of the 13th/14th and 20th/21st November, we will sign up to attend one of these days, the day that best suits you and your child. The day itself can last from 8am to 5pm. Parents are not permitted to stop all day but can stay and watch our school’s performance. Children will need food and drink on the day.
To sign up for the dance festival please can you tell your child’s class teacher. If you have any questions about the event can you please contact school and ask to speak to Mr Jeff or Mrs Caffrey (Mr Jeff will be in school on Wednesday).
If you want to take a look at the event a little bit more closely and see how the day looks please follow this link
