Welcome back to school!

I hope that you all had a well-deserved half-term break last week and enjoyed a bit of the nicer weather! It has been a joy to come back to school this week and see all of our pupils jump back into their learning with such energy and enthusiasm. 

I was particularly impressed with the skills that the children in EYFS have been using this week in Forest Schools. The children have been learning to use simple tools, like hand drills, to help them construct a new Bug Hotel up in the woods on the school grounds. With supervision, the children drilled holes in wood for the insects to live in. Well done Team Esk and Nidd! 

There are lots of events coming up this term to look forward to. Please take a look at the calendar dates further below for more information. Don’t forget to make a note of your child’s sharing assembly date for your diary. We are also having the school summer disco next Thursday 13th June. Please see further timings below for your child and then book using Parentpay. 

We also have Sports Day coming up on the 19th June. Please send your child to school in pe shorts, footwear and a t-shirt in the colour of their sports team (a list with your child’s colour team is being shared by the office to all families). You are warmly invited to watch the event if you would like to. Parents/Carers of children in Teams Esk, Nidd, Aire and Ouse, please arrive for 09:30 – 11:30. Parents/Carers of children in Teams Derwent, Foss, Calder and Humber, please arrive for 13:00 – 15:00. We are having a practice event next week for the children to get ready. Please can all children come to school next Wednesday in their PE kit. 

There is lots to look at on the newsletter this week, including our after-school activities this term. Please take a look below and sign up asap if your child is interested. Furthermore, as part of the discounted schools offer, Leeds Rhinos are offering a follow up opportunity for families to attend one of two further home matches with 50% off their tickets. This also gives families who missed out on the offer last time the opportunity to access discounted tickets. Please note that these are purchased directly from the Rhinos using a discount code.
