Newsletter 19th September 2025

Friday 19th September 2025

This week Mrs Caffrey and I were delighted to take a mixed year 3 and 4 team to represent the school at the Selby regional football competition at Selby College. The children had loads of fun, worked well together as a team and we won three out of the five matches played! Well done team and thank you Mrs Jeff and Mrs Caffrey for organising the event. Sports clubs have kicked off this week with our new cheerleading club! The children loved learning new skills and having fun together!

In other news this week, Team Ouse continued to work as Historians to learn about The Victorian Era. They played Quiz, Quiz, trade to learn new facts about Queen Victoria and then everyone created their own fact file all about her! Meanwhile, our Year 5 students have learnt about the gruesome reality of Anglo-Saxon and Viking life – ask your child for some gory details! They’ve researched facts and created posters to show off all their learning. Thank you very much to those who have donated packaging for the Year 5 DT project which is designing and making their own seasonal soup! They have learnt about the nutritional value and fruit and vegetables that grow in different seasons and have researched their own recipe. In the coming weeks, Year 5 will make their very own seasonal soup to eat.

Thank you for all your continued support making sure that children are at school every day, on time. Please remember that school doors open at 08:35 and close at 08:45. The school day finishes at 15:15. Can we remind all parents not to park on the double-yellow lines leading up to the school gates (unless you have a blue badge) as this makes access challenging for coaches and emergency vehicles. Thank you.

Finally, I am sharing today that we are saying goodbye to Mrs Kellett next week as she moves on in October to take up her new post working at a Nursery closer to home. Her final day with us will be next Friday 26th September. Mrs Kellett has served our children and this school community exceptionally well and she will be missed! Good luck Mrs Kellett and please come back to visit us!

Thank you for your continued support and have a great weekend, Mr Greene
