Friday 10th July 2026
We have had such a busy week in school this week as we come towards the end of the school year! Firstly, a huge thanks to everyone who came to support the school at the end of the day on Monday at our annual Summer Fair. The event was so well supported and we could see the children having lots of fun. Thanks to your generosity and support, we have raised an incredible £1003!!! WOW!!! All funds raised go directly back to resources, equipment and opportunities for our pupils. It makes the special experiences and enrichment for our children possible and we couldn’t do it without you! Big thanks as well must go to our staff team for their help on the day. A very special thank you to Mrs Hand and Mrs Gibb for organising the day and preparing everything. Finally, thank you to our volunteers, including Mrs Kinsey-Hayes and Mr Fraser from our local governing body! Thank you everyone!
Tuesday was certainly a day to celebrate with not one, but two graduations! In the morning, we took the time to celebrate and send off our fantastic Team Humber, class of 2026! We are incredibly proud of our pupils and who they have grown up to be. We wish them every success as they move on to secondary school – please come back and visit us! Then, in the afternoon, it was time to say congratulations to Team Nidd, who have graduated from Early Years and are ready to move into Key Stage 1. Well done! Thank you family and friends for coming along to support them all; we hope you enjoyed these special events!
On Wednesday, we were delighted to share the Year 3 and 4 Musical Showcase Assembly – the children did an amazing job! Then, we took our Year 6 pupils away on their end of primary school 2-night residential experience up to Newby Wiske Hall (PGL) near Thirsk. Full of high energy activities, adventure and lots of great food, we’ve had a brilliant time together! The children have loved it and represented the school so well. Thank you to Miss Smyth and Mrs Haselden-Atkins for their support, as we couldn’t offer these experiences without our dedicated staff team! Hopefully everyone will enjoy a good rest over the weekend!
Finally, this afternoon you will receive a copy of your children’s end of year school reports written by their teachers. We hope you enjoy reading them and feel very proud of the progress your children have made this year! If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact your child’s class teacher. Don’t forget, next week is our transition week (Monday – Thursday), so please take your child to their new classroom door on Monday!
Have a great weekend and see you next week for the last week of the school year, Mr Greene

National Children’s Orchestras Auditions 2027
We are delighted to announce that auditions for NCO 2027 are now open! We’re hoping that some of the young musicians in your area would like to be a part of NCO Membership next year and we would be very grateful for your help spreading the word. To find out more, visit our website: Auditioning for NCO | The National Children’s Orchestras of Great Britain.
Auditions close at 9am on Friday 31st July 2026.
To help you spread the word, please find attached a poster that you are welcome to share digitally, or print and display and a Key Info doc for a snapshot of the annual programme with videos. You can also share our social posts on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.
Those interested can also find out more at our auditions webinar on Sunday 31st May at 3p.m., where members of the NCO team will talk through the process and answer any questions. Register interest in attending here: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_pfd5W1f3TpKvy4McYJKjWg
Our aim is that money doesn’t create a barrier to a child hoping to take part in our activities. We want any young musician, no matter their background or circumstance, to have the opportunity to accept their offer of a place in NCO. It is possible to have all or part of the fees paid for by our Financial Support programme.
Thank you in advance for your help encouraging more young musicians to experience the joy of orchestral music making! If you have any questions about the process or sharing this information, please email auditions@nco.org.uk with any questions you may have.
Play together. Be unstoppable.
Bookings are now live for our FEAST-funded holiday camp places.
For families who are not eligible for FEAST funding but would still like to attend, our parent-funded places are also available to book. Please feel free to share the link below alongside the FEAST information.
