Newsletter 3rd July 2026

Friday 3rd July 2026

This week we were delighted to share our Upper Key Stage 2 performance with families: Gigglebox! The children in Year 5 and Year 6 did a wonderful job putting the production together and performing it for us all!  The show is a fantastic, high-energy treat, with lots of opportunities for the children to sing and have fun. Based on a well-known TV show, it involved a ‘family’ watching different spoof TV shows based on well-known favourites. Year 5 did a great job being the chorus and the pupils in Year 6 took on various roles as family members of cast-members for the TV shows.

These productions take lots of work to pull together, so a big thank you to Miss Smyth and the team for all their hard work making this happen for the children. Thank you to our families for coming to support, we really value your partnership in this. It was also a great chance to celebrate our Team Humber pupils as they prepare to finish Primary School in a couple of weeks. They have also been enjoying their transition ‘taster’ days at secondary school this week. Parents and carers of children in Year 6, don’t forget to join us next week on Tuesday 7th July for the Team Humber graduation, beginning at 09:15 in the school hall. Please join us for refreshments afterwards on the playground.

In other news, our Year 1 and 2 pupils have been to the beach today for their school trip! The weather was very kind to them and they have all had a wonderful time over in Cleethorpes. Thank you to Miss Catterall and Mrs Jeff for organising the trip and all the staff and parents of volunteered to help. We couldn’t provide this experiences and opportunities without your help! Thank you! Whilst there, the children played on the beach, visited the pier and enjoyed the sea. We are incredibly proud of how well they all represented our school. Well done Team Aire and Team Ouse!

Have a great weekend and see you next week, Mr Greene

National Children’s Orchestras Auditions 2027

We are delighted to announce that auditions for NCO 2027 are now open! We’re hoping that some of the young musicians in your area would like to be a part of NCO Membership next year and we would be very grateful for your help spreading the word. To find out more, visit our website: Auditioning for NCO | The National Children’s Orchestras of Great Britain.

Auditions close at 9am on Friday 31st July 2026.

To help you spread the word, please find attached a poster that you are welcome to share digitally, or print and display and a Key Info doc for a snapshot of the annual programme with videos. You can also share our social posts on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.

Those interested can also find out more at our auditions webinar on Sunday 31st May at 3p.m., where members of the NCO team will talk through the process and answer any questions. Register interest in attending here: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_pfd5W1f3TpKvy4McYJKjWg

Our aim is that money doesn’t create a barrier to a child hoping to take part in our activities. We want any young musician, no matter their background or circumstance, to have the opportunity to accept their offer of a place in NCO. It is possible to have all or part of the fees paid for by our Financial Support programme.

Thank you in advance for your help encouraging more young musicians to experience the joy of orchestral music making! If you have any questions about the process or sharing this information, please email auditions@nco.org.uk with any questions you may have.

Play together. Be unstoppable.
