Friday 23rd October 2026
This week we took the Year 4 children (Team Foss) away on their first residential up to Nell Bank! The children went away for 2 nights (from Wednesday until today) and stayed at an outdoor activity centre on the edge of Ilkley. We’ve been incredibly busy taking part in lots of fun activities including: problem solving, adventure play, pond-dipping, a wildlife hunt, den-building, a night walk and a campfire! Yesterday was a very busy day with a 7 mile walk out through Ilkley and over the Moors beyond. The children absolutely loved the walk, which included seeing Roman and Victorian history, as well as enjoying the stunning views over the Moors. We even stopped at the Cow and Calf for ice-cream to celebrate all their perseverance and commitment! Thankfully, we had incredible weather as well!
During the trip, we were absolutely blown away by the energy, kindness and resilience of all the children. The Nell Bank staff remarked on how supportive the children were of each other and how friendly they are. Team Foss – you represented our school beautifully and we are very proud of you! Thank you to Mrs Gibb for organising the trip, to all the parents and carers for their support and especially to Mrs Caffrey and Miss Leng who came away with us to make the trip possible! We will sleep well tonight!
Meanwhile, there are a couple of other things to update you about. Firstly, please be aware that the Royal British Legion have delivered Poppies to school. Should you wish to purchase any items, please come to the school office. Secondly, I wanted to take this opportunity for your ongoing support with our school fundraising. On Monday we held our Autumn Disco and we had loads of fun together! Thanks to your support, we raised a fantastic £384! Thank you! All funds go directly back to benefit the children with resources and experiences.
Finally, please be aware that we are having our Parent Evening Consultations during the first week back after half-term. These are all online appointments and they are available to book via our Parents Evenings System. Please make it a priority to book and attend so your child’s teacher can share their progress so far this academic year with you and you can ask any questions you might have.
Thank you for all your support and partnership this term. It has been a fantastic start to the year and we are very proud of all of our pupils. Enjoy a well-earned rest and break and we will see you again in November!
