Friday 16th October 2026
It was wonderful to welcome so many of you yesterday after school to our Autumn Celebration of Learning! Thank you for joining us and for your continued support. We hope you enjoyed celebrating your child’s learning with them by visiting their classrooms and seeing their books. Following on from this, we will be holding online parent-teacher consultations during the first week of next half-term (w.c. 2nd November) during the evenings where you can discuss your child’s progress in more detail with their class teacher. Look out for further information on how to book when it is shared next week.
In other news this week, the children in Year 3 have been out on a local walk around the village. They were focusing on identifying and describing natural and human features as part of their Geography topic.
Meanwhile, we have also been learning about Black History Month this week across school. Pupils had a launch
assembly with Miss Catterall on Monday to focus on important people from the past and why they have had such an impact. The children have been working hard in history lessons learning about this important topic this week. We were delighted to finish the learning this week by welcoming in Bigfoot Arts Education to lead workshops for each phase of the school today. Our guests led interactive storytelling and musical sessions full of wonderful stories from Africa! The children loved the event and we are grateful to Bigfoot for their input into our theme week.
We also wanted to make you aware of a couple of updates. Firstly, we are seeking nominations for a grant from Kelloggs for our breakfast club provision. If you are able to support us, please do so via the link here: Breakfast Club Grants Nomination. Secondly, in support of The Royal British Legion, Poppies are now available at school. Should you wish to purchase any items, please come to the school office. Thirdly, don’t forget we are hosting our Autumn Term disco next Monday 19th October after school. If you would like your child to attend, please sign up via Arbor.
I hope you have a good weekend and see you next week, Mr Greene
