Members of Team Foss enjoyed their first residential trip with school this month to the Kingswood outdoor adventure centre ‘Peak Venture’, near Sheffield. Led by Miss Thompson, Mrs Christie, Mr Metcalfe and Mrs Caffrey, the children stayed away for three days and took part in an action-packed timetable of activities together. During the trip the children learned lots of new skills, they developed their independence and they became increasingly responsible for themselves and their friends. In their own words, Team Foss described the trip as an “inspiring” and “thrilling” adventure! We are so proud of how they represented our school and how much they have grown as a result of them stepping out and trying new things.

During the trip, the children took part in different activities and challenges, including a large 3G swing. They enjoyed the swing because when you got dropped down “it was fun”. On pupil said, “I felt really nervous and terrified but after I did it I felt proud.” The children (and staff!) also had a go on the zip wire, with one pupil saying, “It was like riding in a Lamborghini; it was fast and exciting!”

Year 4 also enjoyed choosing different foods at Kingswood and helping themselves to drinks and toast. One pupil said, “I ate Melon and loved it, I kept going back for more.” Another pupil said, “I tried Chilli Con Carne and I enjoyed it, I will eat this again.”

One of the highlights of these residentials every year is the campfire activity at night time and this year was no exception! The children had lots of fun learning new songs and dancing around the bonfire eating toasted Marshmallows.

Well done Team Foss and thank you to all our families and carers for your ongoing support!
