Friday 11th October 2024

We couldn’t be more proud of Team Foss this week during their Kingswood residential – for many of them, the first time they have stayed away from home and family. After a soggy start on Wednesday, the weather held out and we enjoyed lots of Autumn sunshine. The children have been fantastic role models and represented our school community exceptionally well; one of the instructors said that they have been the best group she has ever worked with because of their kindness and outstanding teamwork!

During their stay, the children took part in a wide range of activities across the site, including; night line, laser tag, den-building, fire lighting, the 3G drop swing, problem-solving, scrapheap challenge and the zipwire! Another highlight of the trip was singing songs and toasting marshmallows around the campfire! We all got very muddy at times but lots of fun was had by all. The food was amazing and the children looked after their dorms and slept well both nights. Thank you to all our parents and carers for your support in getting your child ready for this residential. These trips take lots of planning, time and energy so I would like to take this opportunity to say a MASSIVE THANK YOU to Mrs Caffrey, Miss Leng and Miss Catterall for all of their help.

Coming up next week we have our Autumn Celebration of Learning event on Thursday 17th October after school from 15:15 – 16:15. Please come into the classroom with your child and see all of the work that they have been doing so far this term. Afterwards, please visit us in the hall where refreshments will be available to purchase, including hot dogs and soft drinks. There will also be a tombola and uniform swap shop. As part of the event, we will also be having the grand opening of the new library! We hope to see you there!

Please also be aware that bookings are open for parent consultations for the following week (w.c. 21st October 2024). These will take place online and will be 10 minutes long with your child’s class teacher. This is an important time to hear about how your child has settled into their new year group and what they are working on this year.

Thank you and have a great weekend! Mr Greene

Safeguarding Thought of the Week

This week we are sharing information around online group chats. As our children grow up in an increasingly digital world, they are more exposed to online platforms, including group chats, which have become a common means of communication. While these can offer opportunities for socialising and collaboration, there are also risks involved, particularly for young children in primary school. It’s important for us, as educators and parents, to be aware of these risks and take steps to protect our children. There is a poster below with some hints and tips.
