Welcome Back!

Welcome back to school! We hope that you have all had a wonderful Easter break and enjoyed some of the lovely Spring sunshine. It is important to pause and re-charge throughout the year; we hope the children were able to switch off, rest and relax ready to jump into the final term of the year. We have been delighted to see how well the children have come back to school this week and we are extremely proud of their energy and enthusiasm with their learning! This term there are lots of things to look forward to and plenty of opportunities to share your child’s learning with you. With that in mind, please see some of the key dates below on the newsletter, alongside a full list of Summer Term calendar dates for your diaries to follow.

This week we have re-launched Zones of Regulation for the children, led by a special assembly on Monday with Mrs Robertson. The Zones of Regulation is a simple tool designed to teach self-regulation and emotional control by categorising all emotions, energy levels, and alertness states into four colored zones – Blue (low energy), Green (calm/focused/ready to learn), Yellow (frustrated/wiggly), and Red (angry/mad). It helps pupils recognise their feelings, understand their triggers and choose strategies to manage their emotional states. For example, when they are in the Yellow Zone they need to ‘slow down’ (deep breaths, a quiet minute) or when they are in the Red Zone they need to ‘stop’ (a safe space, a sensory break). The children have been learning more about this in their PSHE lessons this week and we hope that they find it a really useful and supportive tool!

Across school there has been lots of fantastic learning taking place. In Year 1, the children in Team Aire have been learning about plants, particularly the different parts of plants. They used tissue paper to create their own plants, carefully making and then labelling each part of the plant to make wonderful pictures! I was very impressed by their subject knowledge as well as their creativity! Well done team!

Finally, I want to draw your attention to a fantastic set of resources for parents and families called Togetherness which has been launched by the NHS recently. Follow the LINK to find lots of excellent resources and ideas to support families with promoting positive mental health and emotional wellbeing.

Have a lovely weekend, Mr Greene
