Newsletter 12th June 2026

Friday 12th June 2026

What a busy week we’ve had at Brotherton and Byram Academy! Yesterday, we didn’t let the rain dampen our spirits or stop us enjoying our Sports Day Practice session! Our Sports Coach, Miss Dye, set up the hall for us to be able to go ahead with part of our practice plans, which allowed the children to still have a go at the sports carousel activities that they will take part in on the playground next week. The children worked in their teams, in smaller groups, and they loved having a go! Thank you for sending children in their kits and we are really excited to celebrate Sports Day next Thursday 18th June together. Please see the separate communication from the school office, or ask your class teacher for full details and we hope you are able to join us (fingers crossed for a drier week!).

In other news, Mrs Sadullah organised and ran online video calls to our partner school in Spain this week! Pupils in Teams Humber, Calder and Foss all got to speak to their peers in Spain and they enjoyed practising using their Spanish skills with others. We were really impressed with how they represented the school and how well they got involved! Many thanks to Mrs Sadullah for setting this up and for developing the partner relationships with our friends in Spain. More calls take place next week for other classes across school. Meanwhile, across school Marley and Blake have been busy putting up the winning pupil mental health posters and attending our latest EBOR Academy Pupil Parliament meeting. They are now planning more opportunities outdoors for children to get healthy and active, so watch this space!

Also, this Wednesday Team Esk and Team Nidd had some very special, creepy-crawly visitors as part of their topic this term! Children got the opportunity to meet and hold some wonderful insects and bugs from ‘Project Wild’, including Giant African snails and a tarantula! Wow!

Finally, if you are on our school volunteer list and you would like to help us at our upcoming Summer Fair on Monday 6th July, we’d love to hear from you! Please speak to Mrs Gibb in the office if you would be interested in helping us set up (from 14:00) and/or run a stall/game at the event (from 15:15). All help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for your continued support and have a great weekend, Mr Greene
