Newsletter 19th June 2026

Friday 19th June 2026

Thank you to all our families who were able to come down and support our Brotherton and Byram annual Sports Day yesterday! We had a wonderful time celebrating the children’s skills together and we are very grateful for your continued support. The weather was kind to us and the children represented the school brilliantly! There were lots of examples of fantastic sportsmanship and we are particularly proud of the Team Humber Year 6 helpers who helped our younger pupils engage so well. Thank you Year 6 for your support and thank you Mrs Jeff, Mrs Caffrey and Miss Dye (Our PE Team) for making the event happen so well. It was a joy to see the children take part in the carousel activities and try so hard in the track races! Well done everyone!

Please don’t forget we have a few more special events coming up as we head towards the end of the academic year. See the key events on the next page of the newsletter and make sure the dates are in your calendar. In particular, coming up next week on Monday we have our class photographs. On Wednesday, we would like you to join us if you have a child in Year 3 or Year 4 for their musical showcase assembly in the school hall beginning at 14:45. Families of children in Year 5 or Year 6, don’t forget that their Production will be performed during the afternoon on the 29th June (Time TBC).

Finally, we pride ourselves on creating a safe, welcoming, and respectful environment for all of our children and families. With that in mind, we kindly ask all parents and carers to be mindful of conversations held on the school grounds. Please ensure that our playground remains a positive space where every member of our school community is spoken of with kindness and respect. If you ever have any concerns or worries, please come and speak to myself or the school office. We are always happy to help!

Thank you for your continued support and have a great weekend, Mr Greene

National Children’s Orchestras Auditions 2027

We are delighted to announce that auditions for NCO 2027 are now open! We’re hoping that some of the young musicians in your area would like to be a part of NCO Membership next year and we would be very grateful for your help spreading the word. To find out more, visit our website: Auditioning for NCO | The National Children’s Orchestras of Great Britain.

Auditions close at 9am on Friday 31st July 2026.

To help you spread the word, please find attached a poster that you are welcome to share digitally, or print and display and a Key Info doc for a snapshot of the annual programme with videos. You can also share our social posts on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn.

Those interested can also find out more at our auditions webinar on Sunday 31st May at 3p.m., where members of the NCO team will talk through the process and answer any questions. Register interest in attending here: https://us02web.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_pfd5W1f3TpKvy4McYJKjWg

Our aim is that money doesn’t create a barrier to a child hoping to take part in our activities. We want any young musician, no matter their background or circumstance, to have the opportunity to accept their offer of a place in NCO. It is possible to have all or part of the fees paid for by our Financial Support programme.

Thank you in advance for your help encouraging more young musicians to experience the joy of orchestral music making! If you have any questions about the process or sharing this information, please email auditions@nco.org.uk with any questions you may have.

Play together. Be unstoppable.
