Brotherton & Byram is an active school!

This week in school the children have had lots of opportunities to be active! On Monday, we welcomed Rising Stars into our school. They ran active sessions for the children at lunchtime on Handball. The children loved learning new skills and being active. They then had a go at playing a ‘mini’ handball competition, which they really enjoyed. As part of our continuing offer to children to encourage them to engage in a range of activities we are looking for new providers to run after-school activities and lunchtime provision so watch this space!

We provide a range of activities at lunchtime every day, including Football, Basketball and Table Tennis. Our young Sports Leaders do an excellent job of supporting our younger children with accessing these activities as they develop their leadership skills. Meanwhile, in EYFS, children have been excited to learn using simple tools to learn new skills. This week they have been learning how to safely use simple hand drills, which they have really enjoyed. Well done!

Apologies for the sudden change of plans for our Harvest Festival. Due to the non-stop rain we decided to keep our children warm and dry and host the event in our school hall instead of the church. A huge thank you to those who could join us this afternoon as we shared our learning about Harvest. Your support, as ever, is extremely valuable and the children all did a wonderful job. We have learnt so many new things!

Finally, on behalf of our whole staff team, may I pass on our thanks to you for your kind words of support and encouragement this week during our recent inspection. We are extremely proud of all of our children and the way that they strive to be respectful citizens. Our children are making excellent progress across the school and we are delighted to work in partnership with you all as families as we move forward together this year.  I am also very proud of this staff team, who go above and beyond every single day to ensure each child in this school is safe and supported to be the best that they can be. I look forward to sharing the full report with you from the inspector when it is published. Have a lovely weekend!

Together we achieve more,

Mr Greene

Safeguarding Thought of the Week

This week letters have been going out to parents/carers of children where attendance is a concern. Regular school attendance is an important part of giving children the best possible start in life. The aim should be to attend 100% of the time.

If your child is too unwell to attend school please ensure that you contact us to make us aware before 9:30am.

If you have any worries or concerns about attendance please contact Mr Metcalfe our attendance lead for support and advice.

Please see our attendance policy for further information.
