Friday 20th October 2023

Dear parents and carers,

What a start to the school year we have had! Thank you again for all your continued support. We hope that you and your children enjoy the half-term break.

A highlight of the week has certainly been the African drumming that we have had in school. Every class took turns having a go at a drumming workshop with Gaspard from the Ivory Coast in Africa. The children loved getting stuck in and the sound they made was amazing! Take a look at our newsfeed from the school website to see how they got on!

As you know, School Parent Teacher Links have been shared for the Parent Teacher Meetings week commencing Monday 20th November 2023. Please sign up for a slot to hear how your child is doing in school.

There are a few key pieces of information for you further down so read on for the key dates for applying for Secondary School Places and Reception School places.  We also have a new school dinner menu which is below and also on the website. Please do ensure that you book your children’s school meals for the next half-term.

The after school club timetable is also below and has gone out via parenthub. Bookings should be made on parentpay for new clubs – sewing and athletics.  Our other clubs are for pupils who have already signed up.  Parents/ Carers please take note of the dates that clubs will run as well as some of the start and finishing time.  Mrs Jeff club and Miss Gill club finish at 4pm.

Together we achieve more,

Safeguarding Thought of the Week

Bonfire Night!

I’m sure many of you have exciting plans for your half term break including attending a bonfire or fireworks display. Bonfire night is an exciting and fun British tradition, but is one where safety is definitely important. Below are some safety tips for those who are attending or hosting a bonfire night/fireworks display.

  • Make sure that children do not wear loose or flammable clothing and tie their hair back.
  • Keep children supervised at all times. If they are young or liable to go wandering off, make sure that you or another trustworthy adult, hold their hand throughout the evening
  • Only let children over five use a sparkler
  • Have children playing with sparklers wear gloves, and tell them to keep sparklers at arms’ length
  • Tell children they should never run while holding a sparkler
  • Tell your child to never touch the hot part of the sparkler!
  • When the sparkler goes out, make sure your child puts the hot end into a bucket of water or sand
  • Make sure that children don’t pick up fallen or spent sparklers from the floor.

Have a fantastic half term and bonfire night!
