Season’s Greetings from all of us at Brotherton & Byram CP Academy!

Christmas is certainly in the air this week at Brotherton and Byram! The children have been taking part in a range of different festive activities as we enjoy celebrating the season together. Firstly, on Monday, the children visited our fantastic Christmas room where they could choose something special for their loved ones from the wide selection of stock that has been donated to school. The children loved choosing the gifts, which were then kindly wrapped by our wonderful team of volunteer ‘Christmas Elves’! Thank you to everyone who made the event possible and to Mrs Hand for coordinating it. This event was made possible by the generosity and support of the local Brotherton Outlet shop; I would like to say a HUGE thank you to them for their help. I am delighted to announce that the total amount raised by everyone’s support was an amazing £545! Thank you!

On Tuesday, the children enjoyed a Christmas Pantomime show in the school hall from Dip and Dab. This was a high-energy, fast-paced and very interactive show which the children loved! Then, on Wednesday, we were delighted to enjoy Christmas Dinner together in the school hall. We hope you enjoyed the event and I want to say a big thank you to Alma and her team in the kitchen for cooking such an incredible feast! Thank you to our staff team as well who took the time to set-up, serve and clear away afterwards.

We have been blown away by your support during this season with fundraising for the children next year. I am pleased to announce that the total raised during this festive season from all the events (including the secret room, the raffles and the disco) is £1195! This money will be spent directly on the children next year on trips and special events for them to enjoy and enrich their education. Thank you.

In other news, I am also delighted to announce that Miss Bird (EYFS AT) is pregnant and is expecting her second child in May 2024. Congratulations Miss Bird!

I hope you have a wonderful weekend; next week is the last week of the term and we will close school at the usual time of 15:15 next Friday 22nd December 2023. Do be sure to check out the North Yorkshire ‘FEAST’ activities running over the Christmas break (further details on page 3). Thank you,

Mr Greene
