Brotherton on show!
This week saw the performance of the annual Brotherton and Byram Christmas shows with a range of different Christmas performances from pupils in all three phases of the school. All the children performed with courage and energy; we are so proud of all of them! A massive thank you for coming along to support each group of children and we hope you are feeling festive as a result! Thank you also to all of our staff who have worked hard to plan, prepare and organise the different shows.
Firstly, on Monday, children in Teams Aire and Ouse delighted their family members by singing a range of different Christmas songs, poetry recitals and playing tuned and untuned percussion instruments. Some children even tried something new and performed a solo! Well done to everyone who was involved.
Next, on Tuesday, our youngest learners in the EYFS unit performed their version of the traditional Nativity, telling the story of the very first Christmas. This forms part of their learning in the unit and they all joined in with energy and enthusiasm. Thank you Teams Esk and Nidd and well done!
The pupils in Key Stage 2 closed our week of performances with an impressive festive carol concert up at the church. The children have spent weeks preparing their singing parts and solos. A huge well done everyone who took part and made this such a special event!
Next week the Christmas celebrations continue with our Secret Room on Monday 11th December in the HUB. where children can purchase and wrap surprise gifts for members of their immediate family. Please send your child to school with their money (£1 a gift) in a named and sealed envelope. Please write the names of who your child will buy for on the front of the envelope. We will also be enjoying Christmas dinner together on Wednesday 13th December and holding a Christmas raffle. One parent per family is welcome to attend as well if you would like to; due to capacity in the hall and with the catering we are unable to offer more places. My apologies for the miscommunication earlier in the year around this and any inconvenience caused. When visiting the school site please remember to always ensure that the pedestrian gate closes behind you on entry to ensure the grounds are always secure for our pupils.
Lastly, next week we will be holding our school book fair and all books are half-price! Why not come along and take a look at the end of each school day on the playground? For every purchase made, Scholastic will give our school points which we can exchange for free books for our library! Thank you for your continued support and have a wonderful weekend!

Our Brotherton and Byram Community
School Uniform
Here at Brotherton and Byram we have gathered a large (and growing!) collection of used school uniform. A huge thank you to all our community for the donations. We hope to have swap shops at our various school events throughout the academic year. However, if you are short on jumpers, polo shirts, pe kits etc please speak to reception or Mr Metcalfe and we can hopefully provide what you need. All we ask for is a small donation that will go to the school.
Attendance
Next week letters will be going out to parents and carers where attendance is a concern. As a school we would like to support where possible and have a legal duty to monitor attendance and notify you where we have concerns. It is important that your child is in school every day on time.
