‘Pupils get on well with each other and have a sense of belonging in this caring and nurturing community’

Hopefully this week you have had the opportunity to read our recent final inspection report following Ofsted’s visit on 18th and 19th October 2023. We are proud of all of our pupils and the hard work that our staff put in every day to make our school such a safe and supportive place for our children to learn and thrive. The inspector was very complimentary about the behaviour of our pupils and how welcoming they all are. In her report she wrote ‘pupils greet visitors with a smile and a warm welcome. They are sociable, friendly and good natured’.

She was also very positive about the skills of our teaching team and how they teach new learning in a well structured and clear way. She also went on to recognise the importance of all the additional opportunities that we offer as a learning community (such as trips, visitors, clubs, music enrichment and sports competitions) to ensure that our children grow into respectful citizens with aspirational goals and curious minds. Thank you to all of our parents and carers for your kind words of support and for continuing to partner with us as we move forward together.

In other news this week, children in Team Esk have been working hard in PE with Mr Jeff to develop their running, jumping and coordination skills. In Team’s Aire and Ouse, the children were delighted to practise pitch and rhythm in their Music lessons with visiting Music Specialist Teacher, Mrs Marshall from EBOR. Meanwhile, over in Team Humber, the children enjoyed a wonderful trip to Magna in Sheffield as part of their topic on Space.

Finally, in staffing news, I am sure you will join me in passing on many congratulations to Mr Metcalfe who has been appointed by EBOR Trust to be the new regional safeguarding lead for our family of schools. He will still be on site at our school on Mondays and Tuesdays and we are now looking for a new family support worker to join our team and work alongside him. Well done Mr Metcalfe!

Have a wonderful weekend and see you all next week! Mr Greene

Children Travelling to School

It is wonderful to see how many children walk, cycle or use a scooter to get to and from school. Alongside being environmentally friendly this is a great way for children to be active and get a blast of fresh air! With that in mind we want to make sure that children are keeping themselves and others safe. We have a very steep hill and narrow footpath coming down from forest school to the school playground, we also have lots of parents, carers, pushchairs and younger children that use this path to get to school. If your child cycles or scoots to school can you please remind them to walk with their bike or scooter as soon as they enter the school grounds (at the green gate before forest schools). This is to ensure that we are not having any accidents or injuries and we are keeping ourselves and members of our community safe. Thank you for all your support.
