Who’s been eating my porridge?!

Goldilocks has been spotted this week in EYFS sitting on their chairs and tasting their freshly made porridge! The children have really enjoyed reading the story of Goldilocks and the Three Bears and then making their own porridge. Teams Esk and Nidd went down to the HUB to work with Miss Dickinson who used our new oven to make their very own porridge. Some of the children even tasted the porridge with different toppings on as well; a particular favourite was golden syrup. Yum!

In other news, this week we have been taking part in the big RSPB Birdwatch 2024! Every year, the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds invites people all over the country to spend time observing and counting garden birds in their area. As a school, each year group has taken it in turns to learn about our different local birds and then have a go at bird spotting, counting and recording. Mrs Caffrey, who has coordinated this year’s count, will be sending our results to the RSPB to form part of their national survey results as they study the changing nature of our bird population. When you are next out and about, why not ask your child if they can remember the names of any common birds that we have learnt about this week?

Don’t forget to check our upcoming calendar dates further down the newsletter. Next week, in particular, I would like to draw your attention to our Parent Forum next Tuesday 30th January at 14:45 in school. Please  join us for a hot drink and an opportunity to help shape the future of our school. There has also been lots in the news recently about Measles. Please take a look at the information from the government on guidance about Measles at the end of the newsletter.

I hope you have a lovely weekend, Mr Greene
