Another busy week at Brotherton and Byram!

As this half-term draws to a close, we have been very busy across school enjoying lots of wonderful learning opportunities. In PSHE, we have been learning about Children’s Mental Health week and we have been thinking about ‘your voice matters’. In PE, we were very proud of the KS2 pupils who represented our school at a Multi-Skills sports event in Selby this week – well done to everyone who took part! Over in EYFS, the children have been learning about Lunar New Year, which is celebrated in China this month. This year is the year of the dragon; the children have been making dragons, including a large dragon that the children have been using to learn their very own dragon dance in the hall. Meanwhile, up in Forest School this week, the children in KS1 have been practising their knot-tying skills to make their own dens, which were amazing! Well done Teams Aire and Ouse! Further photos can be found on the website homepage.

We also welcomed the return of the team from HSBC this week who came to share money education sessions with pupils from Years 2 – 6. The children found the sessions very interesting and learnt about where money comes from and how to use it.

Thank you for all of your ongoing support this half-term and have a wonderful break, Mr Greene

SAFEGUARDING THOUGHT OF THE WEEK

We are aware that lots of our children have access to internet enabled devices and are aware that many of our children access social media platforms. As part of our Safeguarding Thought of the week, we will be sharing information about the various social media platforms that our children may access. This information is useful for our parents and carers in looking at the risks and exploring the limits and monitoring that can be placed on these apps. This week a separate information sheet will be sent out alongside the newsletter. This week it will be about Whatsapp. Please view the attached poster for lots of information regarding Whatsapp and keeping your children safe. For further information about Whatsapp and the risks please visit;

As part of mental health week we have shared some great information below about speaking to your child about their mental health. If you have any concerns about your child’s mental health please share with their teacher and Mr Metcalfe to explore further support.
