Friday 1st March 2024

We have had another very busy week in school this week! Spring has been in the air in Year 2 in Team Ouse; they have been learning all about plants in Science. The children have been having a go at drawing a plant and then carefully labelling each part currently. They have also been finding out what each part of the plant does. Well done Team Ouse!

Meanwhile, in Year 6, the children have been learning about area and perimeter. They have been using multilink cubes to make different shapes and then calculate the area and perimeter. Team Humber have been working really hard on their Maths this term. Great work!

A highlight of the week in EYFS has been their trip to the National Railway Museum in York this week! Yesterday, they travelled by coach and enjoyed finding out more about how trains work. There was lots to see and the children had a really great time. They also enjoyed taking part in a wide range of hands-on Science activities in ‘Wonderlab’; a new exhibition that allows children to explore some of the concepts behind movement and travel in a fun and engaging way. A massive thank you to all the volunteers and staff who came along to help! Without your support, these enrichment activities cannot happen so thank you very much!

Don’t forget to join us next Thursday 7th March after school (15:15 – 16:15) for our next BB Celebration of Learning event where you can come back into your child’s class to see their learning and books from this term. We have so much to show you and we are hoping you will be able to join us. Next Thursday is also World Book Day. This is a reminder that we will be having a non-uniform day and that children can come to school with their favourite book. Children might want to come dressed as their favourite storybook character and take part in our competition!

Finally, please have a look at the bottom of the newsletter for more details on the Leeds Rhinos Netball Ticket offer if it is of interest to you.

Have a lovely weekend and see you next week, Mr Greene

Safeguarding Thought of the Week

This week we are sharing information around the online game Roblox. Roblox is a hugely popular game that can be played across multiple consoles. We are aware that it is a popular game with our children and many enjoy playing it online with their friends. Due to the online nature of the game there are things that parents and carers need to be aware of when allowing their children to play Roblox. Please see the attached leaflet for lots of helpful information and guidance around Roblox!

SCHOOL LUNCH MENU

On Thursday 7th March we will be celebrating World Book Day at Brotherton and Byram. We are very excited to celebrate all things books and share our favourite stories with one another. We will be welcoming Sarah Shafi, author of the Ridiculous Witches series, to our school for the day: she will be reading her books, answering questions and running workshops for our classes. As well as this, we ask that all children bring their favourite book to school with them to showcase. Finally, we will be having a non-school uniform day and we encourage you to dress as your favourite book character or author! A competition will be held across Foundation, KS1 and KS2 for best costume for those who enter with an exciting book themed prize up for grabs!
