We’ve had another busy week across school with the children working incredibly hard on their learning! In Year 4 in Science, the children have been learning about states of matter and how solids melt into a liquid. They went up to Forest School and toasted marshmallows at our new fire pit to watch them change from a solid to a liquid! They have also come to the end of their ‘Explanations’ unit in writing and this week they have designed their very own ‘Cracking Contraptions’ inspired by Wallace and Gromit. Their contraptions include a Homework Hero, Auto Chef and even a Gnome Gardener! As well as producing some fantastic drawings, they have written detailed explanations as to how their machines work. But beware – like all of Wallace’s creations, they have a tendency to malfunction!
There has also been some wonderful writing this week in Key Stage 1. In Team Aire, the Year 1 children have worked together using the Mighty Writer to retell the story of The Enormous Turnip! They used different symbols to represent nouns, verbs, adjectives and adverbs.
In Year 2, the children have been working hard this half term to write their own creative writing pieces. They have been focusing on building up the tension and describing what the main characters can see, hear, feel, taste and touch. The children ended their stories on a cliffhanger to leave the reader wantingto read more!
Finally, I wanted to take this opportunity to congratulate all of the children in Team Humber as they have completed their SATs this week. A HUGE well done to you all! Thank you parents and carers for your continued partnership and support – the children have all been amazing!
I hope you all enjoy the sunshine this weekend and see you next week! Mr Greene
