Classes Next Year

Dear All,

Summer term always flies and is so busy and this is no different this year.  At the end of this week we see some of our Year 6 children go to Sherburn High School and we wish them well on their new adventure.  All our classes will also be transitioning to their new classes week commencing 8th July so children have got to know their new teacher and are not worrying over the holidays. Today I have spoken to all the children about their new classes and teachers.

We have lots of change in school in September which I would like to share with you:

We will be saying ‘Goodbye’ to Mr Preston at the end of this term.  Mr Preston is following his teaching passion and will be teaching Art at Scarborough 6th Form college from September.  Mr Preston has done an amazing job here and we wish him every success in his new post.

We will also be saying ‘Goodbye’ to Miss Stables, who will be moving to Poppleton Road School in York, which is nearer to where she lives.  Miss Stables has been a great team member and has also done a fantastic job here.

This means we will have some new teachers joining and I am delighted to tell you that Mrs Forster and Miss Clarke will be part of our team moving forward.  They will be in school from Tuesday 9th July for the rest of this term as part of our transition.

Miss Oglesby will also be back during the two transition weeks.  We have some very exciting news to share: Miss Oglesby is expecting a baby and will be going on maternity leave before Christmas.  I will let you know when we have confirmed which teacher will be covering her maternity leave.

Next year, we are able to have single age classes in the mornings which is great news.  During the afternoons, classes in Key Stage 1 and 2 will work on curriculum projects.

Class teachers will be:

Nursery and Reception (Nidd and Esk) – Mr Greene

Year 1 (Aire) – Miss Oglesby

Year 2 (Ouse) – Miss Clarke

Year 3 (Derwent) – Miss Dimmock

Year 4 (Foss) – Mrs Forster

Year 5 (Calder) – Mrs Jeff

Year 6 (Humber) – Mrs Christie

There will be some changes to where class are next year too:

Aire will be the current Aire classroom for current Year 1 children.

Ouse will be the current Ouse classroom but for Year 2 children.

Derwent will will be the current Derwent classroom.

Foss will be the current Humber classroom.

Calder will be the current Foss classroom.

Humber will be the current Calder classroom.  

So, some very exciting changes ahead.   Please come and see me if you have any questions about classes next year.

We still have lots of things happening before the end of term, including sports day, Science week, summer fair, school disco and graduation so please keep checking the website.
