Friday 22nd March 2024

As we end the Spring Term, may I take this opportunity to thank you all once again for your continued support, encouragement and ongoing partnership with us. The children have worked incredibly hard and have made lots of progress! This week some of the children in year 5 and 6 have been taking part in Bikeability with the North Yorkshire Council. They listened extremely well and developed an excellent understanding of cycling and road safety. I would like to pass on the feedback from the instructors who came to see me to let me know that all of the children had outstanding behaviour and a positive attitude throughout the sessions. Thank you team and well done; we are very proud of you!

Over in Year 1, the children have really enjoyed their ‘Training to be Knight Day’ as part of their learning on castles. They had lots of fun learning about archery, making their own swords and shields and singing songs. Well done Team Aire!

There are a few things to draw your attention to this week. Firstly, we are proud to offer a range of clubs and after-school activities to all our families. Please take a look at what is on offer for after the Easter Break and sign up using Parentpay.  Details of the clubs are below and bookings can be made on Parentpay, where a £1 will apply for booking places. Secondly, there is lots of information below for activities and events taking place in the community over Easter; please do take a look. Thirdly, there is also a new dinner menu for next term for your information.

Finally, today is Miss Bird’s last day at work before she begins her maternity leave. Thank you Miss Bird for all you do for our pupils and we are sending our very best wishes for this new chapter for you and your family! After Easter, we are delighted that Miss Riley will be covering Miss Bird’s maternity leave on Thursdays and Fridays. As an experienced EYFS assistant teacher we know she will bring lots of knowledge and skills to the team. Furthermore, as Mrs Robertson steps fully into her new role as Family Support Worker, I know you will join me in making our new part-time EYFS Teacher, Mrs Hartley, feel very welcome.

On behalf of the whole team here at Brotherton and Byram, have a restful Easter break,  Mr Greene

Safeguarding Thought of the Week

As the lighter nights approach and children want to play out more, please would you remind your child about keeping themselves safe when out and/or what they need to do if they experience unsafe behaviour (come home and speak to you). If your child reports concerning behaviour or you witness concerning behaviour please contact 101 to report.

A guide from the NSPCC has been attached to help you decide if your child is ready to stay home or go out alone and things to have in place when allowing your child to play out. Alternatively you can view the guide here;
