A message from the Headteacher…

Dear Parents/Carers,

We have had a good week in school and Foss have also been working hard with their remote learning.  Thank you so much for everyone who is helping the children complete their learning remotely.  It is not easy and we cannot thank you enough for supporting us.

Thank you also to parents’ positivity after we announced a bubble closure.  It is a worrying time but, as I said in my message to parents last Friday, we are doing everything we can and following Public Health and Trust guidance to keep school safe so children can continue to come to school and learn.

We now only have two weeks left before we break up for Christmas and still have loads to do before we break up.  All the children have worked so hard and are getting tired but are not giving up!  Our final week is pretty packed with Christmas dinner and craft afternoon on Wednesday, party afternoons Thursday and Christmas jumper day Friday before we break up.  From Thursday, children can come in non-uniform.

Next week we will be practising our Nativity across school.  As Foss are not in until Friday 10th December, we will need to extend when we send the video out to you to give them a chance to perform but will send it out before the end of term.

Next week is also when children can bring cards in to be quarantined before handing out the following week.  Please would you make sure the cards have the child’s name (who it is for) and class on.

Parents have also been asking if children can bring presents in.  If they are for other children, please would you mind sharing these outside of school.  We know some children like to bring something in for the teacher (and this is not suggesting you need to) but if you are thinking of doing this, we would need to quarantine them for 72 hours before they go to teachers.

This week we have also started collecting everyday toiletries for our local foodbanks.  They are really short of toiletries to give to families in need so please, if you have any spare or would like to buy some toiletries to donate, we would be really grateful.

Finally, we have been talking to the children about reflecting on this year and looking forward  with hope for next year.  You may have seen a small fir tree in the playground which we have called our ‘Tree of Hope’ and every child will have put a ribbon on it with a wish of hope for next year.  From next week, we would like to invite you to attach a ribbon (there will be ribbon available) with a wish of hope for next year too.  Come the spring, we will be planting  the tree in school grounds.

Thank you for all the support you are giving, including attending our virtual parent teacher meetings this week.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Fletcher

What’s happening next week…

Tuesday 8th December – This year our Christmas performances will be very different as they cannot perform in front of parents and family (or other classes). We are trying to be as creative as we can to ensure the children do not miss out on acting and performing. All performances will be shared before the end of term.

Key Stage 2 Christmas Performance – all classes will perform in their classrooms.

EYFS & Key Stage 1 Christmas Nativity Performance – all classes will perform in their classrooms.

Friday 11th December –  Celebrations Around The World. Each class will look at a different culture and find out how they celebrate special times in the year.

For School dinners week commencing 14th December please order on the ParentPay booking system by Sunday 6th December.

Please note that if meals have not been booked you will have to provide a packed lunch.
