Dear Parents/Carers,

Life in school is really good and all children are working very hard.  This week, our Year 1 children had a treat with Zoolab coming in to speak to them which was really good.

We are finding lots of ways to give children more responsibility and I am sure they have come home and told you about the election of our ‘Champions’ this year.  We are just waiting for badges to arrive, as there has been a delay with them, but when they arrive they will be presented in assembly.

We have several groups of champions who will be focusing on different ways to improve our school:

Class Champions – will work with the leadership team to look at our key school development priorities.

Global Champions – will work on making our school more sustainable and educating everyone about recycling, reusing and reducing.

Reading Champions – will be driving enjoyment of reading across school.

Sports Champions – will be improving children’s involvement in sport and being more active.

Restorative Champions – will be helping others to be kind and respectful, helping children solve problems.

Phunky Food Ambassadors – will be working with children across school to make sure everyone is eating a healthy diet and having a healthy lifestyle.  This is part of a research project we are taking part in which is really exciting.

This year some of our Year 5 children will be joining other children across the Trust in a Children’s Parliament, sharing ideas and working together, taking part in a project that improves every single school.  This is a new project that I am leading so I will keep you updated but it is another opportunity for children to have their say and make a difference.

Next week is a very busy week as it is Anti Bullying Week in all schools across the country.

On Monday we start the day with individual photos.  We would also like to invite you to join us for a coffee at 2.45pm in the hall.  We will have a second hand uniform swop during that time.  It will be a great chance to update you on what is happening in school so I do hope you can join me then.

We have a parent forum on Tuesday as well in school at 2.45pm so please join me if you can.  Unfortunately we have had to cancel the zoom meeting this time.  We will be looking at our mission statement and I would welcome all your views.

Friday is a non uniform day for Children in Need.   If your child would like to come in non-uniform, please bring in a donation for Children in Need.  Also, If you have any unwanted gifts that could be donated for our Christmas raffle, we would really appreciate any donations.

Many of our Key Stage 2 children will be taking part in a schools’ cross country event and we wish them all lots of luck with that.

Thank you so much for all your support so far this half term and everything you are doing to make sure our children are in school on time every day, ready to learn.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Fletcher
